Free First Response Service
First Response is a free, no obligation advisory service. Use First Response to seek advice about any aspect of a current or planned digitisation project. The Service, when appropriate, also includes digitisation sampling, costing advice and a visit by a Consultant to view the materials in situ. Advice given through First Response does not assume that the project will use HEDS Production Services.
Production Services
HEDS offers a full digitisation production service. HEDS personnel use their knowledge of commercial digitisation techniques to ensure that the most suitable digitisation treatments are used to create the most appropriate digital product. HEDS is equipped to deal with any type of original and can create whatever digital output is most appropriate for your situation.
Scanning:
Manuscripts, Documents, Bound Volumes, Maps, Artwork, Large format Negatives/ Transparencies, 35mm film/slides, Glass plates/Lantern slides. HEDS also provide a retouching service for the removal of dust and flaws from scanned images.
Microfilm/Fiche
Create a hard copy of your collection by the use of Microfilm and scan from the microfilm for a cost efficient way to digitise your project. Microfilming and microfilm scanning is done to preservation standard.
Photographic
Digital photographic capture of 3 Dimensional Objects, Bound Volumes or Artwork.
Manual or Automated text capture
Double re keying or OCR for text capture. The text can be tagged with HTML/XML markup and specification.
Data Conversion and Data Entry
HEDS provides this service for clients who need to capture/extract data from images to data structure in excel or a database.
Low cost Examination Paper Conversion Service.
The HEDS Examination Paper Conversion Service removes the hassle from converting your examination papers into electronic format. For a specially negotiated price HEDS will provide converted copies of past examination papers which can be made available to students through your web pages or library catalogue. Project Management
HEDS is able to co-ordinate and monitor your project on your behalf. We can provide the technical benchmarking for a project against proven methods and standards. We can also relieve clients from time consuming supplier evaluation and procurement as well as insulating them from the intensive production management task.
Consultancy
HEDS offers consultancy tailored to the particular needs of the individual client. For example, previous clients have engaged HEDS to prepare Feasibility Studies to cover the large scale digitisation of a collection; to provide help and advice on the setting up of in-house digitisation facilities; and to help select digitisation suppliers.
